Callie Twisselman

Callie Twisselman may be a singer now but where did she get her start? On her family’s seventh generation grain and cattle ranch in California. Twisselman was instilled with honest country ways before she began her career in singing. At the age of ten, Callie knew she wanted to be a country music singer.

Flash forward and now Callie is writing and recording her own music, demoing her music and just recently let out her debut EP, “Closure” all under the guidance of Dolly Parton’s manager, Danny Nozell. It’s a no brainer that Twisselman is a forced to be reckoned with in country music.

BC: Can you tell us about your background with music?

CT: “I grew up around music, my mother was a singer in a local country band and my father also listened to Country as well, so it was inevitable that I found a love for the Country genre. I started singing the national anthem at 10 years old and have been hooked on singing ever since.”

BC: It was at a young age when you knew you wanted to pursue music, so does that mean you never had anything else that you were more or equally passionate about?

CT: “Music was always it for me. I never really had a plan B. I figured If it didn’t work out, I would just help run the family ranch.”

BC: Who are your musical influences?

CT: “My musical influences are Shania Twain, George Strait, Dolly Parton and Ed Sheeran. All of these artists are just so talented. I have a broad range of musical taste but definitely learned a thing or two from each of these artists.”

BC: How would you describe your music in three words?

CT: “Real, Sassy and Country.”

BC: What is the biggest compliment you ever recieved?

CT: “The biggest compliment I have received is that I have a little bit of a Dolly Parton sound to my voice. I’ll take that any day! Love her!”

BC: Who is your dream collaboration?

CT: “Ed Sheeran.”

BC: What is your dream venue to perform at?

CT: “Nissan Stadium.”

BC: What is your biggest dream as an artist?

CT: “To have my songs played on country radio.”

BC: What was it like working with award winning producer, Aaron Pearce?

CT: “Working with Aaron Pearce is awesome! He’s a down to earth guy who pushes my boundaries and really takes my music and songs to the next level.”

BC: You released your song, “Two Hands”, not too long ago, what can you tell us about that song?

CT: “Two Hands” was a song that sort of just fell into my lap and I’m so glad it did! It’s a fun light hearted, upbeat tune that my management brought to me and I felt like it was something I could’ve written so I knew I had to record it.”

BC: And you do write your own music so what’s that process like for you?

CT: “The songwriting process for me is I’ll get an idea or cool title in my head then I’ll sit down with my guitar and try to form a melody around that idea. I’m more of a lyrically prominent writer so it’s so neat to me when I take my songs to the studio to record and I get to hear my producer's beats/melodies that he adds in, which really bring the songs to life.”

BC: What can fans be looking forward to from you?

CT: “Fans can look forward to more live shows which we are in the middle of booking and some other fun side projects I’ve been working on coming this fall.”

BC: If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would splurge on?

CT: “A house! Right now I’m living in an apartment in Nashville, which is a pretty big change from going from a 40,000 acre ranch in California to a 1000 sq ft apartment. Definitely would splurge on a house with a little acreage here in Tennessee.”
