Sam Hunt was THE country artist of 2014 when he came out with his song, “Leave The Night On” off his hit album, “Montevallo”.
Hunts been hiding behind the scenes for the last few years but announced his 2025 Summer tour in March of 2025 with special guest Clayton Mullen.
The Northern California stop took place at the Redding Civic Auditorium in the city of Redding. This venue hosts guests of different genres apart of their Summer Concert Music Series which gathers crowds fair and wide making it the perfect summer event.
Not only does the venue provide lots of talent but it also provides a large variety of food trucks from meals to desserts. This summer 25+ vendors served happy guests and became home to long lines.
Clayton Mullen opened up the night at 6:58PM giving guests a break from the heat and listen to some good country music. Mullen is a young emerging country artist from Nashville and has been no stranger to the country music scene.
Mullen’s setlist was about five songs deep and full of faster paced than slow ballads making it perfect for hyping up the crowd for Sam Hunt.
I do not have Mullen’s setlist but will update if or when it becomes available.

Hunt came on stage half hour later opening up the setlist with his hit from Montevallo, “Ex To See’ and fans roared with excitement.
Sam played a range of songs that payed homage to his first EP to brand new radio hits, the crowd knowing every word and mirroring Hunt’s energy.

The cover of Shut Up and Dance was not sung by Hunt, but his back of vocalist and electric guitarist. I think it’s meant to be an interlude to give time for Sam to take a breather.
While I felt like the playlist was a good mix of Hunt’s discography I was hoping to hear one of my favorite Sam Hunt songs, ‘Drinkin’ Too Much’ but due to the nature of the song I don’t think Sam sings that much live anymore, if at all. I would have also like to have heard his song, ‘Single for the Summer.’
Hunt was all smiles on stage and interacted with the fans during two parts of the show walking into the crowd and high fiving fans, and signing merch and vinyls.
I really enjoyed Hunt’s songs that he sold to other musicians being put on the setlist. Those are some of my favorite songs and hearing Sam sing them was so cool.

Sam Hunt is incredibly talented and him singing live sounds just like how he does on his albums. He has good stage energy and was just a really laid back and fun country artist to go see live.
I would really like to see if or how more visual affects or pyro change his live shows or stage presence. He did have some smoke effects but there wasn’t much more other than that.
Venue: Redding Civic Auditorium is known for its proximity to the downtown district of Redding, CA. It’s accessibility to many locals and the room for events like this make it a really good venue. The security was diligent as were the staff looking through bags and checking guests wristbands. There isn’t tons of shade on property where they hold the concerts. There are no public restrooms except for port-a-pottys they bring in for concerts. I loved how many food trucks they had on site. Most of the trucks had extremely long lines but very happy guests. The outdoor part of the venue is pretty big and for whatever reason the merch booth was put way on the opposite side of the site.
Seats: I bought GA tickets which included access to the General lawn and the Front lawn. I would have been very disappointed if I had bought the lower priced seats only for General lawn. It was a horrible view and the crowds over there were obstructing views for those sitting on the lawn by standing at the barricade between the General Lawn and Front Lawn. There were people on a hillside that had minimal shade and I’m not sure how much of the concert they could actually see. You have to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to the outdoor part of the venue. We got there an hour before show time and had pretty good seats.
Parking: I was able to be dropped off and am not sure how much parking is. I do know that parking is very limited and because of how busy these concerts are, they will park you across the freeway at a vacant lot which is definitely a nice walk. Drop off is super easy and you can be dropped off really close to the gates of the venue.
Merch: Most of the merch on Sam’s website was on site at the merch booth. His merch was pretty affordable and good quality which is always a plus. I got the yellow Liberty shirt which was $40 at the venue. The staff working the merch booth were super polite and friendly.
Overall: I really enjoyed myself but I will say that there are things that can definitely be an advisory for those thinking about attending one of these shows. Before attending the show from the pit I was seated in the front lawn. It was really hard to enjoy the music because everyone was talking and not paying attention to the music. It was almost like a glorified music in the park. Of course, this is no fault to Sam Hunt or the venue but disrespectful to those who came to see the show from fellow patrons. There are mega crowds and mega lines! You will be waiting in the heat and you will be waiting no less than thirty minuets for most vendors. I would have liked to have seen staff do some more crowd control because it did get a little chaotic at times just because of the set up. The crowd was not rowdy at all and it was a very family friendly environment. This can change based on the artist so please note that before bringing your kiddos to the show. Other than that I really enjoyed Sam Hunt and would 10/10 see him again and come back to this venue. Once in the pit the show was much more like a concert and I enjoyed myself way more!
Note: The Redding Civic Auditorium has both an indoor and outdoor venue at the same property. Their summer shows are held outside with a bring your own chair or blanket rule. Please go to the Redding Civic Auditorium website for further information about the show you are attending to read all their rules and restrictions.
